Care and Services
Under the RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES ACT – 2006 – S.O. 2006 – C.17., Harrowood is defined as a residential care home. As a residential care home, we provide care services, meals and accommodation to our residents & supervised medication delivery by a nurse. At all times of the day we have a minimum of two care staff on the floor. Harrowood is unique that there is a nurse always on or on call- A nurse is available from 6:30 am to 10:30pm-then two trained personaI support workers on during the midnight shift. Our Care Coordinator Nurse is always on call. In addition to care services, one of the main reasons individuals choose to live in a residential care home is for their personal safety.
Service package and meal plans
Our price includes all care, there is no extra price on top
Nursing and personal care:
- assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting
- ambulatory asistance
- weekly assisted bath/shower
- administration / supervision of medications and treatments as prescribed by a Medical Doctor
- call bell monitoring
- night checks as necessary
- in house doctor visit once a week
Housekeeping / Laundry:
- daily garbage removal in every room and clean towels
- weekly housekeeping
- twice a week wash / dry / fold service of labeled personal laundry
- housecleaning of all common living areas, dining rooms, and etc… per schedule
Full Meal Plan includes:
- 3 home-made meals daily
- snacks provided daily
- cut up or minced diets available
Maintenance:
- assistance with furniture placement / picture hanging on move-in
- annual unit inspection and preventative maintenance program
- ongoing repairs and upkeep of the facility
Recreation:
- full range of activities and social events per monthly calendar
- Harrowood has it’s own Chapel in the facility, five different churches come once month to have a service
- free exercise classes 5 days a week
Fire safety:
Our fire safety systems and practices are in line with the Ontario Fire Code. Smoke and/or heat detectors and sprinklers are provided in all areas of the building and rooms. Monthly fire drills are conducted and your participation in them is appreciated. Personal safety: An Emergency Call System is pre-wired in all residents rooms and bathrooms as well as shower room.
